Collection: Mayco Stroke & Coat (Speckled)

đŸ§ª Cone 06 / Food Safe / Lead-Free / Non-Toxic đŸ§ª

Recommended firing to cone 06- Can be fired to cones 5/6 and 10, but may experience color change/loss at these temperatures. These underglazes fire matte unless you use a AMACO or Mayco Clear Glaze on top.
It also performs well at mid-range temperatures (cone 5/6 and above), though some color changes may occur. At high temperatures, designs may blur or move, and colors like pinks and purples may shift or fade. Testing before use is recommended. Many colors retain vibrancy even at Cone 10 in various atmospheric firings (oxidation, reduction, wood, salt, or raku).
At cone 5/6 and higher, a clear glaze like SW001/SD001 or SW004/SD004 may be used, though it can affect color and design sharpness. Colors such as red and orange may develop a textured, orange-peel surface when fired hotter; thinning the glaze or applying fewer coats helps minimize this. Combining with Stoneware Gloss glazes can improve the result.
Stroke & Coat® is compatible with other Mayco products, including Fundamentals® Underglazes and Stoneware Glazes. It can also act as a glossy resist for layering techniques. Wax resist and carving techniques help preserve design areas during glaze application. For detail work, using squeeze bottles with fine tips ensures sharp edges and full coverage.
